Montessori curriculum presented by an AMI trained teacher

With over 15 years of Montessori experience, two Montessori diplomas, and a Master’s degree in early childhood education, you can rest assured that your child will be in good hands while in our care. We provide authentic Montessori materials and the time and space to learn from them!

Supporting the child’s agency in their own development

The Montessori philosophy was designed through observation of children around the world, and experimentation to see what the children needed and wanted. As such, it is a philosophy that centers around the individual child and customizing their experience to their unique developmental progression. While we do use a defined Montessori curriculum, it is not prescriptive or rigid. Instead, it is a framework to support our work with the children, like a trellis on which the vines of human development can climb.

Emphasis on compassion, social justice, and change making

As a queer owned company, we believe every child should see their own families mirrored as part of what it means to be normal. We also believe they should be exposed to a wider world reflective of the diversity of human culture. We want our students to be able to recognize what justice looks like and help to create it in the world around them - and that means developing the skills and self confidence to recognize injustice and stand against it.

Encouraging a love of nature

We love all creatures and encourage our students to practice stewardship of the natural world. We have two pet rabbits named Turnip and French Fry, a worm composter, and a snail terrarium. We also host swallowtail caterpillars every spring and release them once the butterflies have hatched. In the yard, we care for the wild birds and insects, plant and harvest from the garden, and have the opportunity to observe the wildlife that comes to visit us.
